The immortal wizard Shazam, who dwells in the Rock of Eternity, seeks a champion to fight for the cause of truth and justice. He finds Billy Batson, a young orphan who was thrown out by a cruel and uncaring uncle. Despite the hardship he has faced in his life, Billy’s spirit has not succumbed to evil. Shazam sends an emissary to lead him to the Rock, where he explains to Billy what he has been chosen for. Imbuing him with the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury, Billy Batson becomes Captain Marvel by speaking the name of the wizard: Shazam!

Director Peter Segal takes on the classic comic to see if he can give rebirth to Captain Marvel. As of right now they are still casting and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is being considered for the roll of Billy Batson/Captain Marvel. Brandon Molale is also being considered for Captain Marvel. No offense to New Line Cinema, but WTF are you thinking. Obviously they don’t plan on targeting the hardcore geeks with their casting choice but I won’t form anymore opinions until I hear a little bit more about this one.
